This month we’re excited to announce that Admiral, the classic football brand steeped in British heritage, is finding new home turf at Tu. But before you get too nostalgic and start fishing out your vintage wares, take note: retro-revived is not the same thing as retro itself. While the same old premium Admiral quality still characterises these iconic pieces, Tu has updated the beloved classics to reflect 2015’s contemporary casualwear aesthetic. So to show our admiration for the old Admiral we salute our five favourites from the field – all of which can be mixed and matched together.
1. The polo shirt
Nothing says classic sportswear like the polo shirt. Reimagined in a slim-fit knit with the Admiral classic logo discreetly pared down, Tu’s Admiral polos can be styled for casual or dressy occasions, worn with shorts or jeans for day, or pressed chinos underneath a fitted jacket in the evening. They’re available in both short sleeve and long, in cobalt, navy and white with or without subtle seventies-inspired colour-contrast striping on the collar and sleeve.
2. The field jacket
The football classic that never goes out of style, on or off the field. Admiral has reinvigorated the design of this heritage staple by streamlining the fit and tightening the graphic of the logo printed stripe down the arm.
Opt for navy for a sportier feel or black for something a bit more urban, and team with foolproof slim-fit jeans and white trainers for a seamless field-to-fashion heritage look.
3. The jumper
It doesn’t get more classic than traditional knits reimagined in premium yarns and streamlined fits. These year-round medium-weight jumpers, whether a navy button-up cardigan or heather grey v-neck, take things way back to basics. Layered over polos or tees, these beloved everyday staples will live in your wardrobe for many seasons to come.
4. The T-shirt
No casualwear collection would be complete without a healthy offering of T-shirts, and no football-inspired gear is complete without the trusty jersey. Admiral’s updated it two ways; printing the iconic logo as a contemporary graphic on a clean and simple navy tee with an urban feel, as well as updating the short-sleeved jersey. The jersey’s sporty yet off-field-ready look in navy comes with white contrast piping, or vice versa in white or sky blue.
5. The trousers
Admiral’s trousers are characterised by their solid construction, built to move and to last. The dark denim is tailored with long lines to serve as the solid styling foundation for the rest of the pieces in the collection. The crisp chinos are also spun from luxury fibres and cut for city sophistication.
With retro-suggestion in the flattering slim fit, Admiral’s core trousers are year-round quality mainstays: as key to any style-conscious footballer’s repertoire as his love of the game.
