Style secrets from classic Christmas films
We’re finding fashion inspiration from Cameron Diaz, Donna Reed and Renée Zellweger from the Christmas telly this month. With chunky knits, festive nightwear and woolly hats.
For some people, curling up on the sofa at this time of year is a chance to switch off from festive planning and preparation. But for us fashion-obsessed lot at Tu HQ, it’s a chance to devise some Christmas outfits inspired by our most cherished cinematic moments. Watching our favourite films and shopping? That’s our kind of multi-tasking.
Cameron Diaz in The Holiday
There has never been a chicer ambassador for snuggly knitwear in soft, neutral shades than Cameron Diaz’s character in this classic rom-com. Tu’s tapered slimline joggers and cream textured knit are comfy enough to stretch out in but still smart enough to wear outdoors. Top them off with the perfect beanie – and your new boyfriend, Jude Law.
Donna Reed in It’s A Wonderful Life
Donna Reed’s character radiates kindness in this Christmas feel-good film. If her whole-hearted goodness is a hard act to follow, we’ll steal her understated but charming style instead. Tu Premium’s tailored, fine-knit sweater and waist-accentuating skirt are a great place to start, while a vintage-inspired scarf will add subtle holiday flair.
Renée Zellweger in Bridget Jones’s Diary
We’re not hoping to recreate Bridget’s moment of misery here. But in the midst of the frantic run-up to Christmas, we are hoping to spend some self-indulgent me-time in our pyjamas. Go on, schedule a night in with Tu’s cheery set in plaid, and don’t forget to give your party feet some irresistibly cosy slippers and socks.
