What inspires Toni Salters most about the Christmas season?

What inspires Toni Salters most about the Christmas season?

1. As a designer, what inspires you most about the Christmas season?

Party dress

This year my team and I were inspired by winter holidays in Aspen, Colorado – both on the slopes and Après Ski! I took inspiration from retro holiday postcards, vintage magazine covers and style icons.

For true festive shimmer and sparkle, our Starlight collection was inspired by shades of champagne. There’s also rose gold, bronze and midnight blue in lurex, tinsel knits and patterned fabrics in there—definitely a look to impress!

2. Christmas jumpers: yay or nae?

Red and black coat

Yay! Never apologise for wearing something that might be bad taste but in a fabulous way. You know, the Bridget Jones effect. A fun Christmas motif makes for a fun look, but a patterned Fair Isle Intarsia might be an easier option. Team it with a checked mini for that cosy Ski Lodge trend.

3. Who is your Christmas style icon?

I would have to go for someone with a vintage look from the old Hollywood films we all love to watch at Christmas. Someone like Elizabeth Taylor looks great stood in front of a Christmas tree!

4. What’s at the top of your Tu wishlist this Christmas?

Checked poncho

I’ll be buying a retro ice skater Fair Isle knit to wear with a full 50’s skirt and a pair of fabulous heels on Christmas day.

For cold days, I’ll also be buying our purple fur scarf to layer with my check blanket coat.
For a touch of indulgence and a gift to myself, I will be buying our gorgeous red lingerie and cosy red dressing gown.

For my family, my sister would love a pair of our glitter shoe boots to wear for festive drinks while my mum would look great in our devoré velvet cape for Christmas dinner and drinks.
